The Big Nose

"What's a home without children?" QUIET

On Friday evening, Christopher called and asked me to come out with the girls. Carter had taken a nose dive on the cement and needed to go to the emergency room. Thanksfully it wasn't broken. He was a trooper and told me about everything they did in the ER.

NO NO

"Just about the time a woman thinks her work is done, she becomes a grandmother." Edward H. Drescgbacj

On Friday, her name should have been "NoNo". She was so naughty just making a mess of everything in her path. I kept saying "no no Cali." When I asked her to do something, she would say "NO!"!! She is so precious and usually a good girl, so it's hard to get mad at her. I guess the "terrible twos" are starting very early.

Halloween Cake

"A grandmother is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend." unknown

Chloe is really getting into baking. She wants to learn how to make fancy cakes. This is her version of a Halloween cake. As you can see, the other little stinker had her fingers in it too!

Halloween Night

"A grandmother pretends she doesn't know who you are on Halloween."

Cole is wearing his dad's soccer jersey from junior high. Carter is wearing an outfit that belonged to Ty. Chloe is wearing her princess outfit we got her for Christmas. Cali loves making chicken sounds.

Beautiful and Perfect

"If your baby is beautiful and perfect, never cries or fusses, sleeps on schedule and burps on demand, an angel all the time, your the grandma." Teresa Bloomingdal

Sunshine

"Sunshine surrounds the earth as love surrounds our souls." Amethyst Snow-Rene

Camryn May AKA Mam's Sunshine. I have pet names for all of my Treasures. It took a while for me to think of the right one for Camryn. There were so many that I thought of, but they just didn't seem right. Camryn was born two weeks before I had my knee surgery and it was also when we were waiting for Carl's cancer surgery. It was perfect timing for a new baby to be born into our family. She brought so much sunshine into our lives. When I was holding her, I completely forgot about the pain in my leg and how terrible I was feeling. It also made her PopPop forget about what he was facing. She is a beautiful, happy, loving baby, so she is my "Sunshine."

Quilting

"From small beginnings come great things."

Most of you know that I have a passion for Chinese orphans and adoptions. There is a Chinese custom that you make a One Hundred Good Wishes Quilt for your new baby. You have family and friends send you a square of material and a good wish. This is what makes the OHGWQ. I joined a yahoo group that does the exchanging of material squares just for the OHGWQ. I have material from all over the USA and the world. This group is so much fun and Chloe loves to help me get all of the squares together and into envelopes. She decided that she wanted quilts for her baby dolls, so we made two of them. She picked out some scrap material and helped to put it together. They are far from perfect, but she loves them. Everytime we go shopping, she always needs to go to the fabric department and show me what material she likes. We soon will be starting a princess quilt and a Dora quilt for her dolls at home.

Cali was being a little stinker and didn't want to hold the quilt while I took their picture. She usually loves having her picture taken, but not this day.

Aunt Bethany is making the OHGWQ for Gracie. We want it to be perfect and Mam isn't that good of a quilter yet. Probably never will be, but I'll keep on trying.

Finnish Mobile

"There is a garden in her eyes, where roses and white lillies flow." Thomas Campion

My good friend, Gunilla from Finland, has a heart of gold. She has sent presents at one time or another for all of my grandchildren. When Camryn was born, she sent her this beautiful mobile. Camryn's room is so bright and sunny and the mobile just glistens. Camryn just loves it, as you can see. The center circle is even green to match the nursery, which is pink and green. Gunilla thinks of everything! Well, we let her get a little too close and the green circle ended up on the floor. Not to worry, it went back on easily. Thanks again Gunilla for the wonderful gift.

Haunted House

"Grandchildren are the dots that connect the lines from generation to generation." Lois Wyse

This is one of Chloe's latest projects. She had a great time doing it, even though the icing was a little runny. She is keeping it in her bedroom so her brothers don't eat the candy roof! We still have alot of projects to get done before Halloween. Every day she says "Are we doing a project today, Mam?"

Indoors

"A grandparent is old on the outside but young on the inside."

Tonight Cole played indoor soccer. He doesn't usually play on Thursdays because wrestling practice is on the same night. A team needed some extra players tonight, so Cole went to help out. Carter went along also and Christopher was the substitute Coach. They won over a team they had tied last week.

Thursdays

"Little girls dance their way into your heart, whirling on the tips of angel wings, scattering gold dust and kisses in our paths."

Thursdays are long days for me. I usually have the girls from 8:00AM to 8:30 PM. Today I made them roastbeef, mashed potatoes, gravy and corn for dinner. They weren't too hungry until later when it was time for funnelcakes! Those were a big hit. They love to take long baths. It's relaxing for them and me too!

Carter Jack

"On the seventh day God rested. His grandchildren must have been out of town." Gene Perret

Carter loves breakfast, especially ones you dip in the syrup!! I wonder what team Carter is cheering for?!

Black Day

"If one looks closely enough, one can see angels in every piece of art." Adeline Cullen Ray
Today was black day in pre-school. Of course we had to made a bracelet AND a necklace!

Naptime

"My grandkids believe I'm the oldest thing in the world. And after two or three hours with them, I believe it, too." Gene Perret
Today was Carls first day back to school. He said he was really going to miss the girls and I know they missed him also. This afternoon he got so very tired and felt like he needed a nap. No wonder, he and Chloe took a nap together every afternoon around 1 o'clock.

Tennessee

"A true friend reaches for your hand and touches your heart."

Over the weekend we went to Seth Mitchell's wedding in Tennessee. It as a 12 hour trip, but so worth it. Seth was the keeper on Jake's soccer team. Our families have been good friends for many years. Actually, Danna's grandmother and my grandmother were sisters, so we are distant cousins. Seth was a great keeper. My best memory is when he was saving penalty kicks during our trip to England. It was great!!

I wanted to show pictures of Seth's beautiful bride, his parents, and of course Seth and I dancing!

The Mees

"The family is one of nature's masterpieces." George Santayana

Over the Columbus Day weekend, my niece from Long Island brought her family to Maryland for a soccer tournament. We went to visit with them and see Mason play in the game. After the first two games, we went to visit with Jake and his family. The boys just loved the little ones. They played so hard and did anything at all to entertain them. Jake got the bigger kids a little rowdy and loud while they were playing cards. We will see the Mees again at Hershey on Halloween weekend.

Hugs

"A hug is a great gift - one size fits all, and it's easy to exchange."

After those terrible shots, Mam needed to give her some extra loving.

Feeling Better

"Life reveals her beauty one precious miracle at a time."

Mommy came to the rescue and made things all better!

She Cried

"If nothings is going well, call your Grandmother." Italian Proverb

She was such a brave little girl, but those darn shots made her cry. It broke my heart.

Check-up

"Little girls are heavens flowers."

Last week Camryn went to the doctors for her 4 month checkup. We were lucky enough to go along. She was such a happy baby on the way, having no idea what was in store for her. She watched everything the nurse was doing. The doctor was pleased with how strong she was and said that she is going to be an athlete. YEAH!!

He was so good with her and talked to all of us. The rest of the visit will be another post!!

Sneakin' Candy

"One of the best things in the world to be is a boy: it requires no experience, but needs some practice to be a good one."

Carter, AKA Mam's Precious, has a knack of getting into trouble. Here is he getting into the candy when he should have been eating his dinner. I guess he's like his MamMam, he likes to eat dessert first!

Pumpkin

"There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. The are seven million." Walt Streightiff

This is one of the pumpkins that Chloe painted.

Painting Pumpkins

"She has the spirit of the sun, The Moods of the moon, The Will of the wind." Julie Cantrell

Chloe loves to paint and painting small pumpkins is something we do every fall. She loves giving things to people at holidays and has been decorating her pumpkins with beads. Some of them she says are "crystals". We decided it was best to take off her shirt because sometimes it gets messy.
