Hide and Seek

"A mother becomes a true grandmother the day she stops noticing the terrible things her children do because she is so enchanted with the wonderful things her grandchildren do."

Playing hide and seek by the plant.  She was so hard to find!

Should I ?!

"Nothing is so often irretrievably missed as a daily opportunity."

         Should I or shouldn't I ?!!

            Oh darn, Mam caught me!

Backwards

"Smiling is my favorite exercise."

Camryn loves being on the floor.  If she'd only figure out how to go forward!

Mashed Potatoes

"An empty belly is the best cook."

The girls stayed with us Friday night and Saturday.  They requested roast beef and mashed potatoes.  Both of the girls had seconds.

He's 13

"And thank you for a house full of people I love.  Amen"

This week my great nephew, Jonathan, turned 13.  When he was just a little guy, he would spend a lot of time at our house.  We bought him a swimming pool, sandbox, picnic table and a slide so he would have things to play with when he came for a weekend.  We even bought him a toddler bed.  His favorite thing to do was look at garbage cans.  Here was this beautiful blue-eyed blonde little boy pointing to garbage cans everywhere we went.  He was and still is, such a thoughtful and loving boy.  I am so thankful for Jonathan and am so glad that he is a part of my life.  We sure wish he didn't live so far away.

Having Fun

"A smile is an inexpensive way to change your looks."

The girls had such a good time waiting for the 911 program to begin.  They were seated at the computers, but the best part was making the chairs go around in circles.

Dial 911

"The world is your school."

Chloe's pre-school had a field trip at the 911 Center.  All of the kids practiced dialing 911 and then talked to the operator.  They needed to tell her their name, address, phone number and what the emergency was.  They were all very bashful, can you believe it?!  Chloe panicked when she couldn't remember her last name!  Being in front of all those people is really hard on a 4 year old.

The Trophy

"The difference between try and triumph is a little UMPH!"

Carter only had one match, but he did a great job and pinned his opponent.  He listened to what Christopher told him to do, or at least tried to do it.  It  took some effort coming off the bottom, but he got the job done.  In the League matches, he has had to wrestle many kids who are several years older than he is and has taken many beatings.  It was so good to see him wrestle well today.  One match, the 1st place Trophy, a good day!

Where's Carter?!!

"In youth we learn; in age we understand."

It was just about time for Carter's match and NO Carter!  I started looking for him about the same time Christopher turned around and found that he wasn't waiting where he was supposed to, that's my Carter!  Christopher went into the bathroom, Carter has been known to spend a lot of time in there.  I went toward the food, another place Carter likes to go. He was found in the locker room,  "just checking it out!"   Needless to say, he wasn't ready, no shoes or headgear, but he soon GOT ready with big brother there to cheer him on.

Brothers

"A brother shares childhood memories and grown-up dreams."

The boys had a wrestling tournament in Middleburg today.  Christopher was busy running the tournament, so the boys were camping by the head table. This is here they were SUPPOSED  to stay, especially when it was close to the time of their match.  Cole had already won his first match, which I missed.  Carter was waiting for his match to come up.  THAT is a whole other post!  Playing with the DS helped to pass the many hours they were there.

Practice

"The best teachers teach from the heart, not from a book."
Troy was working with Camryn on her soccer skills.  She was learning how to "lock" her ankle!

Chinese Lanterns

"Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see."

We did a few Chinese New Year crafts this week.  Yesterday we made fans and lanterns.  Today Chloe wanted to play some Chinese New Year games on the computer.  She loved the one where she made lanterns with KaiLan.  Cali smiled and said "cheese" when I was trying to take a picture of Chloe, but when I asked her to show her crafts, she got really shy.

Sitting Still

"Love puts the fun in togther, the sad in apart, and the joy in a heart."

He very seldom sits still long enough for me to get a good picture.

Ponytail

"Life is like a mirror, we get the best results when we smile at it."

She wanted her hair in a ponytail today.

Lazy Day

"Grandparents are similar to a piece of string - handy to have around and easily wrapped around the fingers of their grandchildren."

Carl had a few days off from school this week, due to the snow storm.  He went along to babysit the girls on Thursday.  They were thrilled and wanted him to do everything for them.  Chloe said, "Mam you can take a nap if you want to.  Pop can take care of us."  Well, she forgot that Pop falls asleep the minute he sits down
and somebody had to be awake to take care of their needs.  Needless to say, I didn't get a nap.

Bagels

"I've fallen in love many times. . .always with you."

Everytime I make a bagel for breakfast, I need to "share" it.  She loves the cream cheese!

First Valentine's Day

"I love you like crazy, baby.  'Cuz I'd go crazy without you."

I gave Camryn her Valentine's gifts already because I wasn't sure if I would get to see her this weekend.  She liked the bag and paper much better than the present!

Snow Storm #2

"The eskimos had 52 names for snow because it was important to them:  there ought to be as many for love."

The boys came today to help Pop shovel the driveway.  The cars and driveway all needed to be cleared  from the snow AGAIN today.  It was still snowing and blowing, so they decided to finish when it's done snowing!  The came in for hot chocolate. Now we'll see if they come back!

Bedtime

"Sleep 'til you're hungry, eat 'til you're sleepy."

Camryn is such a good sleeper. You can tell by her eyes, that she is ready for bed. Wish I could sleep that good!

Bathtime

"I've never seen a smiling face that was not beautiful."

Camryn loves her bath.  She splashes and giggles, but thinks she's big enough to stand up in the tub.

Mam's Shoes

"With boys you always know where you stand.  Right in the path of a hurricane."

He loved wearing my shoes, on the wrong feet!

Dribbling

"Perhaps imagination is only intelligence having fun."

Chloe was pretending that she had soccer practice.  She went back to her room, changed clothing and tried to fix her hair "like soccer girls wear their hair", in a ponytail.  The ponytail didn't last long.  Her soccer shoes are too small, so she put on her red shiny shoes. She was dribbling around the house pretending to beat everyone.  She sees enough soccer, Daddy coaches and Cole and Carter both play.  She loves soccer, but tells me that "Mommy says I can't play soccer when I get big.  I have to play field hockey."  Anyway, she is signed up for AYSO in the fall.  I can hardly wait!

Hawaii?!

"You can dance anywhere, even if only in your heart."

Chloe loves to pretend that we are in Hawaii.  She had so many bathing suits on this week that I have lost count.  Her bed is usually the airplane and all the other rooms in the house are places she visits while in Hawaii.  She decided to dance in the kitchen.  I guess that's where the Luau was!

My Little Groundhog

"Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you."

The girls made groundhog hats this week.  Cali was so proud of hers, she needed to check it out in the mirror.  Later I found her watching Nemo, with her hat on!!
